Caleb Farley’s father was killed in an explosion at his North Carolina house

The father of Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley has died because of an explosion and collapse of a North Carolina home, which also injured another person, as reported by authorities. Robert Farley, aged 61, was found in a back bedroom, according to Ire dell County Fire Marshal’s Office and Emergency Management spokesperson Kent Greene. Family friend Christian Rogers, aged 25, was injured, Greene added. Emergency units arrived at the Mooresville property early Tuesday morning and found Rogers, who “was exiting the house and was transported to Atrium Main in Charlotte with non-life-threatening injuries,” Greene stated earlier Tuesday. A neighbour, Pete Schuerger, described the scene as “like Armageddon” with insulation falling from the air, bricks scattered hundreds of feet away, and pieces of wood. Another neighbour, Clay Wild, mentioned the explosion occurring around midnight, comparing it to a massive thunder and lightning storm. The 6,391-square foot home located approximately 30 miles north of Charlotte, and several vehicles were declared total losses in the statement. The cause and origin of the explosion are currently under investigation, according to Greene. Tennessee head coach Mike Vrabel expressed the importance of providing emotional support to Titans players, coaches, and officials for Caleb Farley and his family. He described the situation as “shocking” and emphasized the need to focus on supporting them. County property records show that Farley, who attended high school in nearby Maiden, purchased the 1.67-acre property on Lake Norman earlier this year. Greene could not confirm whether Farley was present at the scene or had spoken to authorities on Tuesday. Caleb Farley, a first-round draft pick in 2021, has played 12 games in his first two seasons with the team, which were plagued by injuries. Currently, he is listed as physically unable to perform.
