Today, five people—Omar, Zahid, Sohail, Fasil, and Mudasir—were detained by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru’s RT Nagar neighborhood. One of them, Junaid, managed to flee, but investigators believe the group was plotting to plant bombs in the capital of Karnataka. They were all previously detained on suspicion of participating in a murder, and they are all between the ages of 25 and 35. In 2017, they were all sentenced to 18 months in prison.
The suspects’ possession of explosive materials has also been seized by the CCB. They also had swords and cannons on them. They admit that they communicate with T nazeer, a terrorist suspect now being held in Bengaluru Central Jail.
According to Bengaluru Police Commissioner Dayanand B, the five people were radicalized by nazeer, who is also in charge of all activities from the central jail.In a 2017 murder investigation, the accused and another individual from abroad were involved. According to Mr. Dayanand, the one from abroad gave them the weaponry they needed to commit acts of terrorism.
The senior police officer noted that in order to find Junaid, the Bengaluru Police is working with national organizations.
It was heartbreaking to learn that terrorists had access to everything they needed to organize a terrorist attack right within the jail. The government had to act quickly to put a stop to this. However, some people continue to hold this belief.
