Why is Constitution Day Celebrated?
As we know, Constitution Day is observed every year on January 26. This is primarily because, on November 26, 1949, the Indian Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution. The tradition of celebrating Constitution Day began in 2015.
After the adoption of the Constitution on November 26, 1949, it took a few months to implement it across the country. The Constitution was fully enforced on January 26, 1950. Hence, this day is celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the country as Republic Day.
Significance
To pay homage to the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Constitution Day was designated for observance. The Indian Constitution encompasses various principles that provide the foundation for the country’s government and its citizens, including fundamental political principles, processes, rights, directives, and laws.
