It has been confirmed by the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan that the cricket team of the country will travel to India to participate in the ICC World Cup 2023. The decision comes as Pakistan was threatened to be pulled out of the World Cup after India made it clear that it will not travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023. In a press release, it was emphasized by the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan that sports should not be mixed with politics.
It is believed by Pakistan that the state of bilateral relations with India should not be allowed to stand in the way of fulfilling its international sports-related obligations. It was added in the release that Pakistan’s decision shows a constructive and responsible approach vis-à-vis India’s intransigent attitude, as the latter had refused to send its Cricket Team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.
The security of Pakistan’s cricket team in India is a matter of concern, as stated by the foreign ministry of Pakistan. It has been conveyed by them that these concerns have been shared with both the International Cricket Council and Indian authorities. The foreign ministry of Pakistan expects that the full safety and security of the Pakistan Cricket Team will be ensured during their visit to India.
The high-voltage India vs Pakistan World Cup match is scheduled for 14 October at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
